1. ↑ A. W. Somes Obituary, Waterville Empire Press, 21 Sep 1922 - Waterville Empire Press 21 Sep 1922 FOUND DEAD A. W. Somes, highly respected citizen and pioneer farmer of this community, was found dead yesterday morning. He had been building a new house on the Cumbo ranch, which he purchased some time ago, and had been sleeping in the barn. He was last seen Monday, and it is thought by R. Adams, who was called as soon as the body was discovered, that Mr. Somes had died Monday night. Death had been from heart trouble, as there was no evidence of a struggle. Deceased was born at Dinfield [Dixfield], Maine, 1859 and moved to California at the age of 3 years. He was united in marriage to Allie Jackson in 1885 who died in May 1900. They came to Washington May 1899 and settled on a ranch three miles south of Waterville where he lived until his death. He is survived by two sons, Walter E. and Carroll H., who reside at Waterville. The funeral will be held tomorrow afternoon from the M. E. church, conducted by Rev. C. J. Boppell, pastor of the Presbyterian church.
